Threw a party for our almost-one year old today. There must have been thirty people (including toddlers and babies).
The weird thing is, it went really well. However, I am a mere shell of my former self. It was a great party. I think heaps of food and drink helped. I made a huge pile of cupcakes for Isaac's cake. Side note: if you ever bake, you really need a copy of Rose Levy Berenbaums The Cake Bible. The woman is insane in her precision and passion, and you want someone just like her when you are trying to make buttercream. It worked a treat.
Also exciting, I am now registered on Ravelry-I received my invite right quick. I am very impressed.
I am also signing up for the Yarn magazine knitalong. More on that later.
It is terribly inspiring. I have been knitting (as well as other crafty things) for...I was going to put numbers in here to mark the amount of time, but a looooooong time is suitable. Decades. But I have never been very community oriented about it, and if anything have felt a bit alone in it all.
So why the sudden community spirit? Y'know, I think it's because I was one of those low self esteem kids that turned into a generally freaked and confused young adult. Once you are fully charged into your thirties, I believe one reaches a point where you just say "Screw it. I'm gonna have me some fun.".
And fun is craft and other people. There's other stuff too, but that's for elsewhere.
