Yesterday it poured down in Melbourne Town. The leafy easterns got washed out again. While I am not a native and thusly am not sure, I think Melbourne may be the only town I know of where the wealthier areas are in the lowlands. There is something very Australian about that. In our rapidly shifting working class suburb, we are actually up quite high. The establishment gets all our floody detritus.
Isaac and I were caught in it in a big way. Going to the library. We had to sit in the car for awhile. It was a bit scary. We made a break for it, and I got soaked due to the maternal instinct kicking in; Isaac received brolly benefits, plus his adorable rain gear.
We LOVE the library. Isaac is a cautious baby who likes to take a little time to suss out a new place. Not so in the library. He loves crawling around, peeking behind the stacks, smiling at his fellow humans. He also has very good library manners. This is helpful as the local branch is getting some very good new craft books. Books I have wanted to spend time with but am not sure about purchasing like Teva Durhams Loop-d-Loop, and Weekend Knitting by Melanie Falick. I think I will purchase Interweaves The Dyers Companion after rechecking it out a bazillion times. Great out of print books on things like French quilts and the like. Just fantastic when the personal library has to take a financial rest for awhile.
Support your local library!
Also adding a new link. Fiona is the first Aussie blogger who I've has the pleasure of typing to. She has a lovely blog with a lot of enthusiasm and the right politics!
